Meet The Owner - Assia Mahmood
Assia Mahmood is the owner of Windhaven Academy, a leading childcare center in Plano, Texas. She is a mother of two young children who also attend her school.
She authored a children’s book that helps prepare families for their child’s first day of daycare or preschool. She was chosen as one of 50 Leading Women making an impact, raising their voice, and leading the next generation of women in the workforce and Plano community.
Assia loves reading, is passionate about being a mompreneur, and hosts a podcast on female entrepreneurship.

I was born and raised in Louisiana. I moved to Texas 6 years ago. I have the cutest dog, ever – his name is Ryder and I am pretty sure he is a genius. I’ve been working in childcare for 7 years now and have been with Windhaven since September 2020. I started as the Young Toddler Teacher and am now so excited to be the Director of the school!
What do I love most about my job at Windhaven?
My favorite thing about Windhaven is the family oriented atmosphere. I feel very excited to go to work each day. I love supporting my staff and providing an excellent childcare experience for our families!

I was born and raised in California; My Fiance, daughter, and I moved to Texas in September 2023. I have worked in the Childcare industry since 2016 in teaching and administration. I also couldn’t be more excited to have my little island girl, Meilani, attend Windhaven Academy!
What do I love most about my job at Windhaven?
I love that I have the opportunity to help provide a safe and fun environment for all of the children in our care. As a parent myself, I know how nerve-racking it can be to trust others with the safety of my child. Here at Windhaven, we strive to take that fear away.

I’m originally from East Texas, I moved to the DFW area in 2020. I have been in the childcare industry since 2018 as a lead teacher in the infant rooms! I’m married to my high school sweetheart and we have the sweetest 2 year old boy named Knox who also attends and loves Windhaven!
What do I love most about my job at Windhaven?
The best part of my job here at Windhaven is getting to share and show families all of the amazing things we have to offer. I love building close relationships with the families and helping people start their journey at Windhaven.
